Essential Duties SPORTS/SPECIAL EVENT JOB DUTIES Student Staff Development: Utilize principles of growth mindset when facilitating the engagement, development, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of a dynamic student staff team that consist of student coordinators, student managers, event/practice staff, and kids camp staff. Special Events: Create dynamic and consistent programming that promotes student community and meets the changing needs of the ASU student body. Coordinate engaging on-campus events and games for the sports program. Assist with large special events on the Tempe Campus like Rock the Rec, Gold Rush, etc. Work with marketing student leadership to create a plan to promote sports events, performances, team and player recognition, and community service endeavors. Leadership Development: Design and implement development and leadership opportunities for student leaders. Mentor student leaders as they navigate the policies and processes of the Sports Program. Club Management: Organize, correlate, and collect all information on member registration software. Manage safety officer program by running all trainings, leading meetings, organizing certifications, and updating information. Oversee club allocation budgets, operational budgets, and ASU Foundation budgets. Manage all club travel, purchases, and reimbursements through management software. Manage the coaches registration system and develop relationships with all coaches. KIDS CAMP JOB DUTIES Assist in the management of the day-to-day operations of the Sun Devil Kids Camp including registration processes, field trips, facility oversight, equipment purchasing, arts and crafts, Friday fun days, wellness activities, swim lessons, field trips, etc. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate approximately 75 camp counselors, managers, and coordinators. Interact with parents and guardians and ensure an outstanding level of customer service.
ADMINISTRATION JOB DUTIES Have a comprehensive understanding of holistic health and implement health and wellbeing programming into the sports programs. Responsible for taking a leadership role in cultivating, creating and ensuring student participation in ASU Spirit, Pride and Tradition while instilling institutional affiliation and college pride. Develop collaborative relationships with all academic partners. Provide input in all areas of Sun Devil Fitness as a collaborative and team effort. Cultivate an inclusive and diverse environment for student participants and staff. Address patron comments, concerns, behaviors and conduct issues as necessary and with outstanding customer service. Assist with creating, forecasting, monitoring and allocating the various budgets. Assist with purchasing and maintenance of program equipment and supplies. Enforce program and facility policies correctly and consistently and ensure a high level of risk management is present in the programs and services. Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of programs and services. Exhibit outstanding problem solving skills by addressing unexpected issues with limited supervision. Perform other duties as specified by the Assistant Director, Assoc. Directors, and Ex. Director of SDFC. Job location
is primarily at the Tempe Campus; however the incumbent will be required to periodically travel to other ASU campuses to perform work and to assess programs. Days and Schedule:
Monday Friday 8:00am 5:00pm; some weekend and evening required.
Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications Evidence of a Master's degree in Higher Education, Social/Behavioral Sciences, Recreation, Leisure Studies, Sports Management, or related field and minimum one (1) year of professional experience. Experience supervising, training, developing and evaluating student employees. Demonstrated experience with student leadership development in a higher education setting. Experience with intramural sports, , clubs, and/or student organizations. Experience working with club officers, executive board members, and/or other club liaisons Evidence of large event planning Evidence of involvement in operations of a summer/kids camp Experience initiating collaborations with university and community partnerships. Experience cultivating an inclusive, safe and diverse environment for student participants and staff. Evidence of aCurrent CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain in the first thirty (30) days
