Staff Accountant Job Description

Bankers Healthcare Group?s office in Syracuse, NY is looking for a self-driven, autonomous and ambitious individual with the ability and willingness to learn Bankers Healthcare Group?s financial product/services. You will experience working in a high-energy environment while continuing to gain extensive knowledge of the financial industry.

About the Job:

  • Have a complete and thorough knowledge of all accounting functions and procedures
  • Monthly and quarterly reconciliations
  • Coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary support, schedules, and year-end materials
  • Perform testing to ensure there are effective controls in place
  • Assist with the monthly & fiscal year-end accounting closes
  • Prepare monthly estimates for month-end closing process


  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, Master?s Degree preferred
  • CPA highly desired
  • trong Microsoft Office Skills
  • Experience with accounting software preferred (Great Plains)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to work both independently and in a group setting
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills a must
  • Highest ethical standards
