Senior Buyer Commodity


Cobham is seeking a Senior Buyer Commodity position. This person will manage and perform activities related to negotiation and administration of supplier contracts. Review and draft terms and conditions. Modify complex supplier contracts to comply with company procurement guidelines. Identify and deliver procurement savings for the site. Drive quality, cost, and delivery improvements within commodity. This position is based in Orchard Park. NY.

Key Responsibilities:
- Implement supplier management approach including scorecards and peer group reviews
- Establish regular supplier performance dialogues and negotiations, with focus on improving supplier performance metrics
- Serve as the Small Business Liaison Officer for Small Business Plans and Reports requested by Supply Chain
- Execute supplier conference/workshops
- Develop supplier relationships within commodity, to include developing new suppliers that can better support company needs
- Negotiate long-term agreements and short-term pricing with suppliers
- Communicate with suppliers on major issues
- Serve as point of contact between program prioritization/expediting and supplier
- Serve as commodity expert for new product development and design changes on current product
- Utilize business system tools to make data based judgements
- Identify procurement savings opportunities and work collaboratively with Value Stream teams to execute
- Flow down customer requirements into the terms and conditions for the supplier to ensure compliance
- Evaluate supply base capability/capacity and establish relationships with best in class machining suppliers
- Coordinate procurement activity with Value streams to ensure strategic procurement of part families
- Implement Cobham Global Procurement initiatives
- Negotiate contracts and develop Long Term agreements, including cost saving initiatives and flow down of customer contractual requirements
- Utilize market indices for raw material trends/price escalation clauses
- Maintain monthly reports and procurement metrics
- Responsible for ensuring that Environmental, Health, and Safety are included as part of everyday activities
- Key Measurements and milestones include the following:
- Achieve 3-5% yearly reductions in material spend for the commodity
- Achieve yearly goal for Quality and Delivery for the commodity
- Support team initiatives in the following key metrics (KPIs): Purchase Price Variance (PPV), Supplier Lead Time, Supplier on time delivery in full, and Supplier DPPM
- Maintenance and Integration of Plan for every Supplier documents for Sourcing decisions
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years' of experience in supplier management or inventory systems (IE: Kanban and LTAs)
- Experience with negotiation and contract related abilities
- Experience strategically developing operational plans
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma enterprise
- Experience working with cash management
- Experience working and communicating with all levels of management and customers (internal and external)
- Experience with Oracle or similar system
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications:
- APICS of ISM Certification
- Knowledge of Small Business Requirements for USGC FAR52.219
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
