Supply Chain Manager - Strategic

Cobham is seeking a Supply Chain Manager - Strategic, to develop and lead the business unit's strategic procurement and sourcing initiatives. Defining and implementing robust sourcing in support of the business' goals. Lead the implementation of effective commodity based supplier management processes capable of achieving quality, cost, delivery and inventory improvements throughout the strategic supply chain network, in support of the business unit's goals. This position is located in Orchard Park, NY.

Key Responsibilities:
- Team leadership responsibilities and stakeholder influencing as a critical responsibility, across a number of Sector locations
- Delivers and enforces the Group Category Strategy across all relevant Business Unit Purchasing Teams
- Leads strategic procurement assessments including core context reviews, make buy plans, and developing and outsourcing strategy as required ensuring total cost of ownership is evaluated
- Identifies and implements LTAs and subcontracts
- Secures a global supply base that meets the organization's cost targets
- Applies SOF principles to build and manage effective supplier management processes and strong supplier relationships and partnerships
- Collaborates across Cobham with Commodity Sourcing Leaders to implement sourcing strategies for externally procure parts and services under Cobham Category Management and bundling of demand
- Leads product costing activities and drive cost reduction efforts. Derives and monitors total cost of ownership and cost reduction targets. Improves TCO and controls Purchase Price Variances
- Develops and implements site and commodity level sourcing plans including but not limited to clean sheet costing, total cost of ownership, customer directed sources or processes, and source controlled drawings
- Conducts commodity market analysis & supplier profiles for current and emerging commodities and technologies
- Understands contractual flowdowns, quality, qualification, technical specifications, and current terms and conditions for improvement opportunities
- Develops negotiation strategic plans to cancel, augment, change or implement new contracts
- Participates in supplier qualification process, and leads projects to improve quality, cost and delivery performance issues with suppliers
- Understands existing contracts and supplier performance, conducts gaps analysis and develops recommendations and implementation plans
- Develops a process with site procurement organizations to understand future product technology roadmaps and imbedded component or processing technology implications Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field
- 5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing industry
- 5 years of supervision/management experience
- Experience with negotiating long term complex supplier agreements
- Experience working with an operational system (MRP - IE Oracle)
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or MS, CPSR, and/or DOD/FAR experience
- 10-15 years' experience working as a buyer or commodity manager within a technology company (ideally mechanical/aerospace)
- Previous experience with Category Management
- Strategic procurement experience with indirect materials or MRO
- Previous experience working on a global team
- Ability to determine the success or failure rate of a business using financial accounting
- APICS affiliation desired
- Strong influencing and persuasive skills
