About the Job:. Women's World Banking is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop and lead the organization's philanthropic activities, fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization. The CDO assures that the organization's corporate culture, systems and procedures support fundraising and vice versa. The CDO leads a staff of ten to institutionalize philanthropy and fundraising within the organization. Led by the CDO, the Development team is responsible for fundraising and the donor experience - planning, coordinating, and assuring implementation of strategies to develop donors and contributions to support the organization. In coordination with Women's World Banking leadership, the CDO assures development and maintenance of appropriate systems to fund development including but not limited to volunteer and donor management, research and cultivation, gift processing, annual revenue targets, and stewardship. In partnership with the CFO, maintains accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources.. The organization has an annual budget of $15 million and is seeking to grow that to over $20 million in the next five to seven years. Women's World Banking has cultivated major donors that have traditionally been comprised of foreign ministries and aid agencies (bilateral and multilateral), corporate CSR, and foundations. To achieve this ambitious goal, the organization seeks to expand the donor base to be inclusive of committed and engaged individuals. Led by the CDO, this team will successfully partner with the leadership and boards of Women's World Banking to leverage their extensive networks for business development and donor acquisition, while maintaining their trust and confidence.. Tasks and Responsibilities:. Ensures that philanthropy and fundraising are carried out in keeping with Women's World Banking's values, mission, vision, and plans.. Participates as an active member of the executive team, willing to constantly challenge the norm, and providing guidance on how to advance the organization.. Evaluates the effect of internal and external forces on the organization and fundraising, recommends short and long-range development plans and programs that support the organization's objectives.. Helps develop a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the needs of the organization that will enable it to attract, retain, and motivate donors and fundraising volunteers.. Helps establish performance measures, monitors results, and helps the chief executive officer and boards evaluate the effectiveness of the development program.. Works with leadership to ensure fulfillment of development roles and facilitate the optimum interaction between management and volunteers.. Designs and assures implementation of cost-effective development programs, employing economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality and solid return on investment.. Assures proper planning including goal setting, strategy identification, benchmarking and evaluation to support development.. Helps board members, chief executive, other fundraising volunteers and staff identify, cultivate, and solicit charitable gifts.. Solicits contributions on behalf of the organization, generally by accompanying volunteers.. Provides general oversight of all development activities, manages the day to-day operations of the development function, and monitors adequacy of activities through coordination with staff and leadership.. Assures development and writing of foundation, corporate and government proposals and solicitation materials, ensuring team proposals speak to clients' needs and objectives and ensure alignment with Women's World Banking strategy.. Assures design and maintenance of donor and prospect records, gift management systems, and informational reports.. Assures appropriate prospect research.. Assures design and implementation of cultivation, acknowledgment, and recognition programs..
