PositionSummary:

Responsible for assisting with theoverall day-to-day operations of the store including continuousdevelopment of effective store associates to achieve desired salesand EBITDA results. Assess daily the stores' ability to meet/exceedcustomer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness,cleanliness, food safety and regulatory compliance. Assist withcoaching and development of store associates through both formaland informal interactions. Role model and demonstrate the company'score values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusionand safety of others.

EssentialFunctions:

  • Assist store manager andassociates in the achievement of a favorable customer shoppingexperience and associate interest in customer service/relationsenhancing Kroger's reputation as the best merchant in the retailfood industry.
  • Assist in leading teams inthe planning, implementation and execution of merchandising andoperating initiatives.
  • Work with departmentheads and associates to identify opportunities in the store,develop timely solutions and create action plans to ensureimplementation of plans.
  • Achieve/exceedweekly, period, and annual sales, wage budgets and profit budgets,and other targeted goals.
  • Drive salesworking with department managers to maximize sales and profits,reduce shrink and improve each store department's contribution.
  • Assist the store manager in the regularstore-level financial performance discussions to include developingbudgets and other targeted goals with store associates.
  • Analyze and respond to the competitive landscape withinthe district and division.
  • Utilizecoordinators and other field staff to ensure store departments areachieving sales and profit goals and ensure implementation, andexecution of division merchandising plans.
  • Promote and support strong relationships with local communityorganizations in the surrounding area in which the store operates.
  • Assist in building a proactive andproductive relationship with union representatives and businessagents, if the store is covered by a collectively bargainingagreement.
  • Serve as liaison providingfeedback to Store Manager, District Manager and Coordinators on theeffectiveness of Division merchandising and operationalplans/programs.
  • Assist the store manager instaffing, reducing turnover, increasing retention and storeoperations.
  • Provide timely feedback todepartment heads and associates on individual and departmentperformance.
  • Assist with the management oflabor and supply costs on a daily basis to meet customer serviceand financial targets.
  • Achieve asatisfactory level of technical and professional skills orknowledge in position and/or related areas; keep up with currentdevelopments and trends in areas of expertise. Ensure associatesand location complies with laws and regulation applicable to thecompany.
  • Supervise and coach direct reportson the performance of their duties; complete performance reviewsand provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the position with orwithout reasonable accommodation.
  • Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Possess high school degree orequivalent
  • Have successfully completed theapplicable Division Management Training Program.
