Directs the development of high-quality business strategies and plans for an approved new venture start-up, ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.. Primary Responsibilities:. Set the vision for the start-up company and define the overall strategy from launch to scale; including long-term goals to drive growth, profitability and company value.. Cultivate a high-performing, agile, one-team culture for the start-up.. Work with the management team to proactively mitigate business, operational and governance risks within the start-up.. Maintain a strong awareness of competition and threats in the marketplace, and subsequent evaluation of company financial structure, capital strategy and strategic priorities that maintain an advantage.. Responsible for developing financial targets associated with operating model transformation and identifying and implementing the strategic changes needed to achieve desired financial outcomes.. Manage strategic relationships with vendors and professional organizations to remain current on industry trends and best practices for supported systems and businesses.. Report updates to Venture Board and corporate stakeholders regarding progress on strategic priorities on a regular basis and work with the Board to accelerate their achievement.. Serve as chief external spokesperson and public champion for the business.. Establish credibility throughout the customer and partner network by authentic engagement to galvanize the company to create and drive solutions to core business challenges.. Manage all aspects of new product implementation and existing product enhancements, including, but not limited to, the design and development of services and process improvements; serve in a liaison capacity with affected departments as required to support these efforts.. Establish marketing objectives and work with other Bank departments to develop effective programs to sell these new products and services. Lead and drive issue and problem resolution related to project deliverables and daily operations.. Understand current and future technology trends to continuously drive improvements to customer support programs.. Guide and influence product development, sales strategies, marketing messages and tactics and distribution strategy to achieve desired outcomes in target customer growth, deeper customer relationships and customer experience.. Provide leadership, direction, and resources to cross-functional teams working in agile development to redesign customer journeys.. Set strategic direction for long-term change management related to the start-up and gain consensus across the organization and at all levels to accomplish change.. Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.. Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable..
