Core Manufacturing is responsible for providing direction and oversight for manufacture and delivery of reactor cores to the fleet. CM employees assume substantial responsibility, leading the resolution of supplier production issues while balancing cost, schedule, and technical requirements. Frequent and effective communication with suppliers, Naval Reactors, and Prime interface organizations is necessary.

CM Fuel and Poison Operations is responsible for managing supplier production of nuclear fuel and poison materials for core use through contracts valued at over $100M/yr. We are looking for a Chemical Engineer to simulate and analyze chemical process systems in order to improve our ability to ensure optimal production of these materials.

In this position you will develop expertise in fuel and poison manufacturing processes and supplier operations. Your primary responsibility will be to develop physics-based models of chemical process systems, with the ultimate goal of establishing an integrated factory model. You will use these models to evaluate the impacts of process changes, or to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement. Some programming may be required in order to extend commercially available chemical process modelling software, or to develop databases for improved handling/analysis of product data.
