The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Data Visualization Engineer to join a growing team dedicated to collecting and transforming data from the Naval Nuclear fleet for analytics throughout the laboratory.

As a Data Visualization Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining visualization templates for incoming shipboard data used in naval nuclear propulsion systems in a Hadoop environment. You will design and implement visualization dashboards, as well as maintain scripts and software that defines and optimizes the architecture that stores and serves data to internal engineering customers.

You will evaluate new and emerging visualization technologies to deliver scalable solutions to transforming shipboard data in an enterprise-wide data warehouse from which operational metrics and support analytics can be easily and reliably generated.

Job Requirements

Advanced:

  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in computer science or other science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or
  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in computer science or other science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of distributed technologies, such as Hadoop.
  • Experience developing dashboards with Tableau.
  • Senior:

  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in computer science or other science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years relevant experience; or
  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in computer science or other science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of distributed technologies, such as Hadoop.
  • Experience developing dashboards with Tableau.
  • Job Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Linux and scripting, often in SQL or Python.
  • Knowledge of Rstudio and Matlab.
