The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria is seeking several Neonatologists for multiple positions of Clinical Pediatrics/Physician Surgeon to join 7 BC Neonatologists. The position requires 3 years of residency and 3 years of neonatology fellowship. The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in neonatology; BC in pediatrics is desirable; and will hold or be eligible for an Illinois physician license. The position includes an academic appointment, patient services, teaching medical students and residents and opportunities to pursue scholarship interests. In addition, we will be welcoming neonatal fellows in 2020 to our program as we have been approved to start a neonatology fellowship at our institution.

The primary teaching hospital of UICOMP is the OSF Healthcare Children s Hospital of Illinois, a tertiary care facility serving a 37 county region with a population base of over two million. The 60 bed all-private room Level IV NICU at CHOI has been designated by the state as the Perinatal Referral Center for north-central Illinois. Services offered include high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, ECMO and most surgical subspecialties, including cardiac surgery. We have approximately 900 NICU admissions and 2,500 deliveries per year. The NICU is staffed with Advance Practice Nurses and residents. We are a part of the Vermont-Oxford Network and strenuous efforts to improve quality and safety are ingrained in our culture. The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking academic physicians for multiple positions in our Division of Neonatology to serve as members of the Division. Proven excellence in clinical care and teaching are necessary to join our active, growing program. Research interests are encouraged.


1. Proven acute and ongoing consultative care to neonatal children with problems in the hospital and outpatient setting.
2. Participate in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs of the Department of Pediatrics.
3. Participate in collaborative research activities of the Division and Department.
4. Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and student counseling.

Required Qualifications

  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
  • 3 years of residency and 3 years of neonatology fellowship
  • Board certified or eligible in Neonatology
  • Board certification in Pediatrics desirable
