Overview: Quinnipiac University's Department of Athletics & Recreation seeks applications for an Associate Athletic Director for Business and Administration to lead, manage, organize and oversee the day-to-day financial, business, human resource management systems within the Department of Athletics & Recreation. In this role you will also oversee the Academic Support unit and have the responsibility of ensuring that student-athletes are provided with resources to assist in their academic success. In addition, you will be the direct liaison to human resources staff and will be responsible for working with appropriate campus partners to analyze and advance internal processes related to diversity, inclusion and equity. Responsibilities:
* Adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity and work in compliance with all University, NCAA, MAAC Conference, ECAC Conference and Big East Conference rules and regulations * Oversee the daily management of business operations to include department financial affairs, budget development and contract administration * Ensure that internal control policies and procedures, including required documentation, are in place for payable/receivable issues, travel advance/expense reporting, etc. Prepare monthly financial reports for administrative units and sports programs and clearly communicate expectations and policies * Coordinate with department administrators, coaches and staff to access budget needs, provide guidance through the budgeting process and aid them in offering budget recommendations * Consult with University financial staff to develop systems for monitoring department budget and actual performance to ensure adherence to budgetary parameters * Assist with the closing of the fiscal year-end financial reports and other University and NCAA financial and academic reporting * Manage the bid process for all championship events or tournaments. This includes submission of budgets, reconciliation of expenses, and post event/tournament reporting * Serve as the primary liaison to the office of human resources on operational matters and lead athletic staff efforts relative to recruitment, on-boarding and new staff orientation * In collaboration with the Deputy Director of Athletics, provide strategic direction for training, professional development and professional speaker initiatives and oversee the development and implementation of diversity and inclusion strategies related to recruitment, performance management, leadership development and employee retention to build and sustain a climate of equity and inclusion * Oversee the Academic Support unit, serving as the direct supervisor to the Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support and ensuring that NCAA Academic reports are appropriately prepared and submitted * Lead team championship travel as needed, providing pre-tip and/on-site travel and operational support to aid in team success * Oversee the allocation and administration of Graduate Assistant and Work Study budgets within the Department * Manage the administrative aspects of summer camps, collaborating with coaches, sports medicine, compliance and campus colleagues to meet department and university objectives * Oversee the management of the university apparel contract and other team specific equipment contracts * Oversee clerical staff
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in the following: * Preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans * Integrating multiple complex pieces of financial information to identify themes, trends, and issues * Thorough working knowledge of finance, fund accounting, and financial reporting analysis in a higher education setting * Experience supervising staff
* Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and computer skills * Ability to interact professionally and negotiate skillfully with both internal and external constituents * Ability to lift up to 25 pounds * Ability to travel and work nights, weekends and some holidays * Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
