Overview: Quinnipiac University's Department of Athletics & Recreation seeks applications for a Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support. In this role, you will manage the administration of the day-to-day academic support services for Division I collegiate student-athletes. You will collaborate with other units on campus to establish policies and procedures that ensure academic integrity, progress towards degree and eligibility of student-athletes. Responsibilities:
* Oversee all areas of the academic support services department including: * Monitoring student-athlete academic performance, progress towards degree and eligibility in compliance with University, NCAA and Conference regulations * Counseling of student-athletes in conjunction with their academic advisors in their school or college * Assisting new student-athletes with transitional challenges * Coordination of study hall, community service and various life skills programming
* Prepare the submission of NCAA academic reports including APR, GSR and Revenue Distribution * Work with various entities on campus to certify student-athletes in their major or program * Collaborate with other offices on campus, such as The Learning Commons, Athletic Training, and Student Health, to create and maintain policies and procedure for the academic support office * Develop and disseminate academic progress reports for coaches * Maintain regular communication with faculty and staff of the schools and colleges regarding
individual student-athlete academic progress, including non-academic issues * Ability to develop appropriate intervention when needed to address productivity and/or academic deficiencies * Ability to collaborate with other units both within and outside of athletics to address student welfare issues as they arise * Management of department budget and NCAA restricted use funds * Sit on various campus committees pertaining to student welfare and student success as requested * Manage the full-time, part-time and graduate assistant department staff members * Other duties as assigned
* Master's degree required
* A minimum of 5 years of experience with academic advising, academic affairs and student development experience, specifically working with student-athletes * Ability to effectively collaborate with student-athletes, coaches, prospective student-athletes, parents, faculty, and other departments * Demonstrated skill in assessing academic difficulties, developing appropriate support strategies, and evaluating and assessing effectiveness of student support intervention * Ability to listen and advise/counsel diverse personalities using sound and mature judgment * Strong organizational skills * Highly effective communication skills with various constituents (students, coaches, parents, faculty and staff) * Ability to think analytically * Knowledge of NCAA rules as they pertain to eligibility, APR and GSR * Demonstrated ability to set goals, manage time and assignments to meet the needs of student-athletes * Ability to build collaborative relationships * Established track record of strong leadership and ability to motivate others to succeed * Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload under the pressure of competing assignments and dynamic deadlines * High degree of professionalism * Ability to lift up to 25 pounds * Ability to travel and work nights, weekends and some holidays * Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
