We aim to bring warmth and energy to everything we do. We have an exciting opportunity open for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist to be based in our Yarmouth, Maine office OR our Littleton, CO office. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports all aspects of the Regulatory Department s work. Examples include helping to coordinate regulatory filings and making sure they are filed accurately and on time, organizing and keeping current the department s records, and communicating regulatory developments to other departments. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Timely files regulatory documents and responses to data requests Gathers information for regulatory filings and edits and formats the filings Maintains Regulatory Department documents Provides other departments regulatory information (e.g., rate changes, Commission decisions, etc.) that affect them Maintains, updates and communicates customer rates, including customer bill codes, charge modes, factors, consumption rates, and rate class allowables Reviews invoices and coordinates processing to help ensure timely payment within budget Updates the department tracker/calendar, tariff books and Commission Rule books Assists in coordinating regulatory filings and proceedings (e.g. developing project timelines, reviewing petitions and testimony, managing discovery, summarizing key milestones and attending Commission meetings, workshops and hearings) Monitors and analyzes regulatory changes Helps prepare expert testimony Assists in compiling, studying, and maintaining data relating to rates, revenue, and customer billing used to assess the effectiveness of rate schedules, rules, and policies and for developing proposals to change existing rates, rules, and regulatory policies Assists in drafting testimony, tariff provisions, presentations and policies to support the Company s regulatory initiatives Assists in monitoring state and national regulatory proceedings and provides updates to senior management Other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college/university preferred Experience in regulatory, rates or related field preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel Extremely well organized Ability to multi-task numerous projects, and ensure all deadlines are communicated and achieved Ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities Ability to diplomatically hold others accountable for meeting deadlines Creative developer of processes to streamline workflows Comfort interfacing with Company executives and Commission Staff Ability to interpret fundamental public utility rules and assist in ensuring company compliance Strong writing and research skills, expected to demonstrate expertise through summarizing complex filings Highly effective communication and effective interpersonal skills Willingness and ability to work extended hours when needed Strong dedication to customer service and completing assignments Ability to multi-task and maintain high performance under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions General knowledge of pipeline systems, facility operations, tariff provisions and service agreements preferred Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills Knowledge of financial concepts, analytical techniques and regulatory issues Effective analytical, computer, problem assessment and problem-solving skills Ability to evaluate and recommend courses of action in response to inquiries Summit Utilities, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
