The job entails selling Thermo Fisher Scientifics instruments, consumables, software and services to the QA/QC and Process Analytics areas within BioPharmaceutical Process Development & manufacturing or other sterile manufacturing environments. The products are based on PCR and Capillary Electrophoresis technology, used for analyzing and measuring contaminants and impurities important in the bioproduction environment (examples: residual DNA, HCP, mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi). The territory covers Massachusetts (north and west of Boston/Cambridge), New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Eastern Canada (Ontario East to the Maritimes).
Technical Sales Specialist Pharma Analytics Products
Thermo Fisher Scientifics BioProduction Division currently has a territory opening in the Northeastern U.S./Eastern Canada for the Pharmaceutical Analytics Technical Sales Specialist. This position will focus on the selling instruments, consumables, software and services to the QA/QC and Process Analytics areas within BioPharmaceutical Process Development & manufacturing or other sterile manufacturing environments. The products are based on PCR and Capillary Electrophoresis technology, used for analyzing and measuring contaminants and impurities important in the bioproduction environment (examples: residual DNA, HCP, mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi).
Meets or exceeds assigned sales quota for by maintaining growth with existing customer base as well as actively searching for new business opportunities within territory. Performs at-customer-site sales calls and presentations, and appropriate follow-up. Provides regular forecast and contact list updates and call reports. Generates and updates annual business plan Develops an expertise in the product and services comprising the portfolio; enhances sales and technical skills through periodic trainings/trade shows participation, etc... Works in close collaboration with Field Applications counterparts and with other sales colleagues across the BioProduction team and across Thermo Fisher, to drive sales opportunities and exceed customer expectations.
Knowledge and skills normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree (BS) in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific field. A graduate degree would be a plus At least 3 years of successful sales experience selling life science instrumentation and/or consumables into the pharma/ biopharma or life sciences marketplace Excellent track record of account management, territory management and sales success. Excellent behavioral /interpersonal skills (teamwork, initiative, commitment-to-task, leadership- ability to drive to goal through effective networking/influencing, overcoming obstacles, enthusiasm, integrity, etc..) Knowledge of, and experience selling PCR and/or Capillary Electrophoresis products, into QA/QC and Process Development areas, within the territory, is a strong plus. Moderate travel (approx. 20-40% depending on home location) and Valid Driver's License is required.
Periodic discussions with sales manager regarding territory activity, opportunity closure, issue resolution, etc... (typically several times /week as needed, plus once monthly territory review with manager, product management and applications team). Works independently on daily activity in accordance with sales activity plan, with regular interaction with field applications specialists and other key sales reps within Thermo Fisher .
