This is an incredible opportunity to join a collegial academic environment and to be part of a clinical team who is recognized regionally and nationally for its quality of patient care. The Division of Neonatology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a NICU Medical Director. The NICU Medical Director will direct the clinical activities at one of the Division's three tertiary Level III/IV Newborn Intensive Care Units (University Hospital, Primary Children's Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center). Significant administrative duties incur for this position, including development of all NICU care guidelines, leadership of quality improvement programs, oversight of telehealth and neonatal transport. The Medical Director will also participate in the clinical care for neonatology patients, including night call and weekend responsibilities. In addition to clinical service and administrative responsibilities, there is an expectation for academic work to
include research, education and advocacy.
The Division is a member of the Neonatal Research Network. Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist within the Division as well as throughout the medical school and University. Bench, clinical and/or quality/value improvement areas of investigation are strongly encouraged.
Qualified candidates must be Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine; and must possess five (5) or more years of experience in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, to include expertise and participation and/or leadership in neonatal transport. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department and University offers a competitive salary and an unmatched benefits program, including non-contributory retirement contributions of 20.2% of annual salary that vest immediately. The Department offers an education loan repayment program, in addition to a faculty development and mentoring program designed to help faculty succeed in translational or basic research.
