Purpose of Job

We are seeking a talented NoSQL DBA Senior Level for our Plano, TX or San Antonio, TX Vista corporate office locations.

Guides and facilitates teams in the delivery of technical solutions. Independently performs complex work assignments and problem resolution across systems, processes, and channels. Participates in the analysis, design, modeling, development, implementation and maintenance of databases on a variety of information technology platforms.

The Sr. DBA manages database utilities, monitors the relationships between the database users and applications, and maintains the organization's databases across multiple platforms and computing environments. Applies understanding of NoSQL database concepts and query languages in order to design required summary or aggregation tables to support analyses. Collaborates with technology/infrastructure staff to identify data relationships and functional requirements; analyzes and resolves issues related to information flow and content. Maintains database support tools, database tables and dictionaries. Performs data modeling studies and develops detailed data models.

  • Manages multiple initiatives of significant scope and complexity.
  • Provides insight and guides management on project related issues.
  • Ensures business continuity by developing and implementing highly available database systems and database recovery plans and procedures.
  • Liaises with database software vendors and external technical support on issues.
  • Drives continuous database improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, availability, and productivity.
  • Acquires and applies advanced knowledge of database design and management including modeling, creation and maintenance of the most difficult and critical databases and database objects to serve as a resource to team members on escalated issues of an unusual nature.
  • Applies extensive knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with database tools and utilities and at least one DBMS platform, as well as expert SQL and database performance tuning skills.


  • Bachelor's degree required OR (4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
  • 6+ years of relevant database design or administration and/or systems/development life cycle experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of technical programming languages and/or database design or database management systems.

  • 2+ years' of working experience using Linux
  • 2+ years' of working experience programming, with a preference for Java, Python, and/or shell scripting
  • 2+ years' of experience administering NoSQL databases, with a preference for Cassandra, Redis, MongoDB, and/or Couchbase
  • 4+ years' of experience working with traditional RDBMS databases, like Oracle or IBM Db2
  • Experience working with Agile/iterative project methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, preferably with experience using Agile project management tools such as JIRA
